Objective
Wessex Accessible Cycling Club's main objective is to provide cycling opportunites for disabled people, and people who are unable to use a conventional bike, within east Dorset.

Statistics
It is well known that taking part in regular physical activity can improve self esteem and lead to a better quality of life. However statistics show that 80% of disabled people do not take part in any sport or physical activity at all.

Barriers
We believe that one of the main reasons for these statistics is the barriers that disabled people face to exercise. With regards to cycling these include the high cost of the specialised paracycles required for disabled people to cycle and that for some disabled people cycling alone can be intimidating and lacks social interaction.

Breaking Down The Barriers
We are breaking down these barriers by providing a paracycle loan service and by organising group cycle rides, led by one of our Go Skyride trained ride leaders, at around Moors Valley Country Park and Forest.
Moors Valley Country Park and Forest
Moors Valley Country Park and Forest is located on the Dorset/Hampshire border and has many miles of traffic free cycle paths to explore or for the less adventurous waymarked cycle paths. The surfaces of these paths are a combination of forest trail, gravel or tarmac and vary from flat to some steeper gradients providing a great cycling environment no matter what your ability.
